OWN gets TLC UK block

Discovery Networks International is bringing programming from OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network to the UK as part of a branded programme block on TLC.

Discovery announced in March it was bringing its female skewing TLC channel to the UK at the end of April and a branded block of OWN content will air on that newly launched channel.

Initial programmes on the slate includes Oprah’s Next Chapter, which recently featured high profile interviews with Justin Bieber and disgraced cycling champion Lance Armstong. Oprah’s Lifeclass and Super Soul Sunday are also included.

OWN launched in the US in January 2011 and has recovered from a slow start that damaged Discovery’s overall financial performance it has rallied in the ratings and recently started a move into original scripted production.

Tinopolis-owned Passion Distribution sells OWN’s programming internationally.
