Ovation, Wowow go Green for Porno

US arts network Ovation TV has picked up American premiere rights to a documentary about actor and comedian Isabella Rossellini, with Japanese pay TV operator Wowow joining the show as a coproduction partner.

Isabella Rossellini’s Green Porno Live! will follow Rossellini as she tours the world with her stage show, which explores the mating tendencies of insects, animals and marine life. It follows on from a web series of nearly 40 short films made by Rossellini, which delve into creatures’ sexual habits.

Scott Woodward, senior VP of programming and production at Ovation, said the documentary “shows the evolution of her incredibly original Green Pornos, from short films to stage show, and how she prepares her costumes, works on dialogue, and deals with the technical and logistical issues.”

The doc is produced by Sundance Productions with Laura Michalchyshyn executive producing and Jody Shapiro (Burt’s Buzz, How to Start Your Own Country) directing.

The show will air on Ovation in the Spring, with Wowow taking Japanese rights on the show. Sales group Forward Entertainment has also joined as coproducer.
