Ovation stands up for docs

Arts-focused US cablenet Ovation has acquired a slew of documentaries from distributors including Nordic World and Germany’s Red Arrow International.

The network has picked up two one-hour docs from Nordic World: Let the Scream be Heard and Stealing History. The first focuses on world-famous painting The Scream by Edvard Munch, while the latter follows three journalists who uncover a network of looters, smugglers and collectors who encourage the plunder of ancient artefacts from war-torn regions.

Red Arrow has shopped Antiques Road Trip (25×60’), an antique-dealing challenge series that originally aired in the UK on BBC2.

Finally, UK-based distributor Orange Smarty has licensed A Place in the Sun: Winter Sun (30×60’), which pairs property experts with people hoping to find their dream holiday homes.

All the shows will begin airing on Ovation later this month.
