Ouro smuggled into Germany

RTL Crime in Germany has picked up an eight-part drama series from Newen Distribution, the sales arm of TF1-owned French production giant Newen.

Ouro (8×52’) will air on RTL Crime in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The Canal+ original was created by Fabien Nury and produced by Mascaret Films in France.

The show is due to premiere on the French pay TV broadcaster this month and will roll out on RTL Crime after that.

The plot follows a 20-year-old geology unit who travels to French Guyana for an internship but quickly becomes embroiled in the dangerous but potentially lucrative world of gold trafficking.

Klaus Holtmann, executive VP of digital channels for RTL in Germany, said: “Ouro is a very well-produced show with a unique setting that we haven’t seen on TV or in the movie theatres for a long time.

“The series is a great crossover between an adventure and a crime show, which perfectly fits RTL Crimes needs for unique stories.”
