BBC Worldwide has sold the first season of Canadian sci-fi series Orphan Black [1] into nearly a dozen territories around the world.

The 10×60′ series, produced by Temple Street Productions in association with BBC America and Canadian cablenet Space, has gone to Numero 23 in France, SBS in Australia and SoHo in New Zealand.

Elsewhere, it has been picked up by DirecTV and BBC Entertainment for Latin America, KBS Media in Korea, YLE in Finland, DR in Denmark, TV Series in Portugal, VRT in Belgium, Sinema TV in Turkey and, in a deal covering seasons one and two, ZDFNeo in Germany.

The UK’s BBC3 acquired Orphan Black last year and saw it become one of the channel’s top-five-rated drama series of 2013.

The series’ second season is currently in production and is due to premiere in April on Space in Canada and BBC America in the US.

The series, which recently received 14 Canadian Screen Award nominations, is executive produced by Ivan Schneeberg, David Fortier and co-creators Graeme Manson and John Fawcett.
