ORF factual crosses Atlantic

Broadcasters including Arte in France, Télé-Québec in Canada and Globosat in Brazil have picked up factual content from the sales arm of Austrian public broadcaster ORF.

ORF Enterprise sold a slate of nature and history programing at Mipcom this week, including one-off wildlife doc Lionsrock from RILK Films, which has pre-sold to Arte.

Télé-Québec and fellow Canadian broadcaster SRC picked award-winning doc Planet Sparrow as well as Triumph of the Tomato.

Africa’s Wild West – The Horses of the Namib Desert, from Interspot Film, has been picked by National Geographic Channels International (NGCI).

National Geographic in the US selected the macro-photographic doc Secrets of Bumblebees, which will also be aired by Arte and Ushuaia TV in France and by Télé-Québec.

Wild Venice, the first 4K production from ORF’s natural history arm Universum, is also going to NGCI, as well as Globosat, IRIB in Iran and First HDTV in Russia.

In other news, ORF’s scripted formats have sold well, with RTL Crime in Germany taking one based on Austrian series Braunschlag and VTM in Belgium buying comedy Cracking the Jackpot, which aired for three seasons on WDR in Germany.
