Opie takes BBC Studios factual role

The BBC has promoted from within to fill the latest genre head role at its BBC Studios production division.

Lisa Opie has been named director of factual at BBC Studios, stepping up from controller of business for factual and daytime.

She will now lead the BBC Studios factual teams across natural history, science, features, daytime, history, arts and documentaries.

Opie will report to BBC Studios director Mark Linsey, who took over from Peter Salmon earlier this year.

Prior to joining the BBC three years ago Opie had stints at Two Four Digital, Channel Five and Flextech Television.

Her appointment follows similar moves in drama, where Nick Betts was appointed in May, and entertainment, with Roger Leatham getting the nod earlier this month.
