Nordisk nabs Awesomeness deal

AwesomenessTV’s Freakish

Multiplatform media company AwesomenessTV has agreed an exclusive sales deal with distributor Nordisk Film.

The partnership, which began last month but has only just been revealed, sees Nordisk Film manage local distribution for all AwesomenessTV’s original existing series and upcoming new releases across Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.

It includes premium AwesomenessTV programming such as Freakish, Guidance and You’ve Been T@gged. MTG’s Scandinavian SVoD service Viaplay recently picked up the package.

“Nordisk Film is the perfect partner to continue to bring our premium series to the global Gen Z audience,” said Rebecca Glashow, head of worldwide distribution at Awesomeness. “They understand this market and recognise the need for teen- and young adult-focused programming in these regions.”

Kenneth Wiberg, senior VP of Nordisk Film, said Awesomeness provided the company with “an exciting opportunity, and we look forward to developing this partnership, giving us direct access to millions of young media users.”

Awesomeness has also just signed 2btube to expand its presence in Spain.

Earlier this month, US studio Paramount hired AwesomenessTV founder Brian Robbins to lead a new production division that will focus on programming based on content from sibling Viacom networks including Nickelodeon, MTV, BET and Comedy Central.
