Nippon boards Malaysian Railworld

Japanese broadcaster Nippon Television has linked with Malaysian production outfit Primeworks Studios and broadcaster 8TV on a railway-based travelogue series.

Welcome to the Railworld Japan (10×30′) is being coproduced by the three companies along with Japanese media group Sumitomo Corporation.

The English-language series is based on Primeworks’ 2010 format Welcome to the Rail World, and has also been inspired by Nippon’s show Next Stop, Discovery.

Meanwhile a second season of Find the Wasabi! (11×30′) has been ordered by Japanese network Tokyo Broadcasting System. Singaporean broadcaster Mediacorp and Thai broadcaster GMM Grammy are onboard as associate producers, with the show testing contestants’ knowledge of Japanese culture.

The Mandarin-language series is being coproduced by Primeworks and Malaysian net NTV7, and has been slated to air in March.
