Nils flies into India

A children’s broadcaster in India has pre-bought the European CGI animated series Nils Holgersson from producer and distributor Studio 100 Media.

Discovery Kids will air the 52×13′ series in India following the deal with the Munich-based firm, which is a subsidiary of Belgian company Studio 100.

The channel is also available in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The series is in production and is based on the book The Wonderful Adventures of Nils by Swedish author Selma Lagerlöf, who was the first female writer to win the Nobel Prize for literature.

It centres a naughty farm boy who never listens to his parents until one day he wakes up as an elf flies away on the back of a goose.

The deal comes after Studio 100 acquired a 68% stake in children’s distributor M4E, which owns a library of almost 2,300 episodes of children’s and family programming.
