Nickelodeon invents with Kiva

Nickelodeon International has taken the rights to Kiva Can Do!, the latest animated series from Irish producer Kavaleer Productions.

The 52×11’/26×22′ series, which is sold by Lacey Entertainment, follows the adventures of Kiva, a seven-year-old inventor, and is designed to get girls more interested in engineering.

The Viacom-owned network will air the show on Nick Jr on both pay and free TV in territories including Benelux, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Greece, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines.

Nick Jr also has the pay TV rights in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Scandinavia, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Israel, Africa, Latin America, South-east Asia, India, South Korea, Israel and the Arabic-speaking MENA region.

The show has been funded in part by the Irish Film Board, the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, the Section 481 tax credit and Irish public broadcaster RTÉ. It was developed with the assistance of Creative Europe.

“Kiva Can Do! is a charming series with positive pro-social stories that are characterised by warmth and cheerful fun that reflects the highly imaginative play patterns of children around the world,” said Brian Lacey, president of Lacey Entertainment.

The show was created by Kavaleer CEO Andrew Kavanagh and is executive produced by MD Gary Timpson. It has previously been acquired by Lagardère TV for French-speaking EMEA in a deal with London-based Happy Audience.

Kiva Can Do! was pitched at Cartoon Forum in 2014 and follows Kavaleer producing series such as Wildernuts and Garth & Bev.
