Nick, Mediapro team for eSports sitcom

DHX Media’s Massive Monster Mayhem debuted in the US

NATPE: Nickelodeon in Latin America has linked up with Spanish production firm Mediapro for a scripted series about gaming.

N00Bees (60×60′) has been created by Enrique Pérez at Mediapro Group’s Madrid-based production company 100Balas.

The Spanish-language show, about a group of friends who create an eSports team, will be filmed in Bogota, Colombia in the same Mediapro-owned studio where series such as Chica Vampiro and Yo Soy Franky were made.

Due to go into production in April, it will air on Nick across Latin America in the third quarter of 2018 and will be dubbed in Portuguese for viewers in Brazil.

It will also feature footage from Mediapro’s Professional Videogames League, which it claims is the biggest eSports league in Spain.

“Mediapro’s experience in the eSports industry, along with the series’ innovative storyline, engaging characters and on-trend gaming theme are certain to make an impact with Nickelodeon’s audience in the region and create new fans in the process,” said Tatiana Rodríguez, senior VP and brand head, kids and family group at Nickelodeon Latin America.

Elsewhere, Nickelodeon is preparing to roll out DHX Media’s Massive Monster Mayhem internationally after a successful premiere for the animated show on Nicktoons in the US.

Co-created by Artur Spigel (founder of 7ate9 Entertainment) and Michael Chaves, it targets kids aged between six and 11.

The show combines CGI animation with live-action and each episode features three real-life child heroes running the gauntlet of the Intergalactic Battle Alliance to face off against the Master Mayhem’s league of monsters.

Nickelodeon will now air the show globally in more than 140 territories.
