NHNZ adds Nat Geo exec for US

New Zealand factual specialist NHNZ has hired industry veteran Sue Houghton to bolster the production company’s Washington DC-based team.

The producer, director and writer, who has spent more than eight years working for National Geographic Television, will work on a number of blue-chip productions, including two for Discovery’s US cablenet Animal Planet.

Houghton, who specialises in expedition and marine-focused programming, has been a key part of numerous development projects for Nat Geo Wild and PBS, including The Secret Life of Predators, Planet Carnivore, Hunter and Hunted and the expedition special Kingdom of the Blue Whale.

Earlier this month, development exec Shera Collins was upped to VP of marketing and development for North America at NHNZ, which was bought by former Fox Networks Group president David Haslingden at the end of 2012.
