NGCI tracks Norway’s truckers

National Geographic Channels International (NGCI) has commissioned its first longform series shot entirely in Norway.

ITV Studios Norway is working on the untitled project, which follows truckers on the treacherous mountain roads between Oslo and Bergen.

Filming was conducted on infamous mountain pass the Hardangervidda and in Odda and Eidfjord in the nearby fjord region of Hardanger, where each winter hundreds of trucks and other vehicles, representing millions of dollars in trade, get trapped in the snow and slide off the road.

The project was greenlit by the NGCI content hub in London, which is led by executive VP and head of international content Hamish Mykura.

An air date and series length have not yet been announced.

National Geographic Channel in the US continues to enjoy ratings success with its Highway Thru Hell series, which is set in the Rocky Mountains of Canada and has a similar premise.
