Comedy Central heads to Israel Viacom-owned MTV Networks International (MTVNI) is launching Comedy Central in Israel, with the channel scheduled to hit screens on January 1, 2011. The channel will become the 10th localised Comedy Central service worldwide and is being launched in partnership with Israeli media organisation Ananey Communications. It will be available via digital cable operator Hot. Comedy Central Israel will target a core audience of 18- to 34-year-olds, and will be a fully localised, Hebrew-language channel. It will broadcast a mixture of international and local comedy programming. MTVNI's MD and exec VP for emerging markets Bhavneet Singh said: "Audiences in Israel have an insatiable appetite for comedy and we feel that this desire, combined with the globally renowned Comedy Central brand, portfolio and know-how, gives us the perfect opportunity to make a real impact in Israel with content that is relevant and funny to Israelis in Hebrew."
