Syfy updates Little Red Riding Hood US cablenet Syfy is re-imagining another classic fairy tale with the commission of a telefilm that has Felicia Day (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) playing a werewolf-hunting descendant of Little Red Riding Hood. Entitled Red, the film is scheduled to premiere in 2011 under the Syfy Saturday Original Movies banner. It will also star Kavan Smith (Stargate Atlantis) and Stephen McHattie (Watchmen) and will be produced by Angela Mancuso and Vesuvius Productions in association with Chesler Perlmutter Productions. This is Syfy's latest re-imagining of classic fairy tales, legends and pop culture characters. It aired a new take on Beauty and the Beast, titled A Dark Tale, on February 27, and is developing films around the stories of Aladdin, Sinbad the Sailor and Hansel & Gretel, among other projects. In addition to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Day is best known for her work in web video. She co-starred in Joss Whedon's internet musical Dr Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog and currently stars in the award-winning web series The Guild. 9 Mar 2010 © C21 Media 2010 |
