Fiver switches focus to fun drama UK digital network Fiver has picked up a number of US series, including teen-targeted Melrose Place, as part of its new strategy to offer "slick, fun" drama. Season one of the 18x60' CBS Television show, an updated version of the 1990s series featuring a group of young adults living in Hollywood, will debut on February 3. The first season of 20th Century Fox Film's mystery thriller Burn Notice (13x60') will debut on February 25. It follows a covert operations agent as he tries to find out why his identity and old life have been taken from him. Another spy drama, FX Productions' Archer (10x30'), debuts on the same night. The animated series is set in an international spy organisation whose operatives see global crises as opportunities to betray each other. Jeff Ford, MD of digital channels and acquisitions at Fiver's parent Five, said: "I'm delighted to add these great titles to a burgeoning slate of quality acquisitions for Fiver. There is a strong emphasis on slick, fun drama and series for Fiver this year." Jesse Whittock 21 Jan 2010 © C21 Media 2010 |
