In factual Joanna Lumley: Catwoman (2x60'), from ITV Studios, aims to do for felines what Martin Clunes: A Man and His Dogs did for canines. Elsewhere in factual is Robson Green's Wild Swimming, John Sergeant on the Tourist Trail (3x60'), and Outbreak, which commemorates the anniversary of the outbreak of the Second World War on September 3 by telling the story of every hour of the first day that war was declared in Britain. In the entertainment space, Duchess on the Estate, sees Ferguson attempt to help communities raise ambitions and standards, while Piers Morgan returns to interview a new set of celebrity guests in a new season of Life Stories. Comedy series Benidorm is returning in a new one-hour format alongside Harry Hill's TV Burp. Ratings winner The X Factor is also set to return alongside a new strategy-based game show called The Cube, where contestants can win up to £250,000 (US$411,000). In drama Robbie Coltrane will star in three-part thriller Murderland, while the channel will also debut a new version of Wuthering Heights and a five-part drama Collision, which tells the story of a major road accident and a group of people who were involved. Agatha Christie's Marple, Blue Murder, Doc Martin, and The Fixer will also appear on the schedule this autumn. Peter Fincham, ITV's director of television, channels and online, said the line-up would offer "something for everyone." "The range of programming that we offer caters to a wide range of different tastes and this autumn is no exception. Viewers can look forward to great drama, big events, major stars, and real impact from ITV1," he said. Martin Buxton 24 Jul 2009 © C21 Media 2009 |
