BBC poaches C4 exec for Knowledge role The BBC has poached Channel 4's commissioning editor for religion and multicultural, Aaqil Ahmed, to run its religion and ethics department. Ahmed, who had previously been tipped for the role, will take the new joint position of head of religion and ethics, and commissioning editor for religion TV. His credits at C4 include Christianity: A History, its forthcoming follow up The Bible: A History, and The Qur'an. Four other appointments have been made to the Knowledge commissioning team as part of the restructure. Mark Bell has landed the job of commissioning editor for arts role. Bell is currently commissioning editor of special factual, independents. Harry Lansdown has bagged the job as commissioning editor of features and specialist factual on BBC3; acting commissioning editor of documentaries Charlotte Moore has been handed the permanent role of documentaries commissioning editor; and BBC Vision Productions exec, Kim Shillinglaw, has been named commissioning editor of science and natural history. The BBC is expected to announce the appointment for the final role, commissioning editor of music and events, shortly. All executives will report to Emma Swain, head of Knowledge commissioning.
