BBCWW downloads The Office stateside The UK version of The Office is being made available for legal digital download in the US for the first time after BBC Worldwide (BBCWW) America struck distribution agreements with Netflix and Vuze. The complete two seasons of the Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant penned sitcom plus specials are available to Netflix's six million subscribers and Vuze's seven million users from this summer. Netflix will offer the series on a rental basis as a paid-for download and on DVD, while Vuze will sell episodes on a pay-per-view model with the first available for free. The show will also be offered through BBC America On Demand on Comcast and Time Warner cable from the autumn with unlimited free viewing. "The Office is one of the most brilliant comedy shows of the past decade and we are absolutely confident that it will be a hit with digital audiences across the US," said BBCWW America VP of digital media Beth Clearfield. The deal with Azureus-owned Vuze builds on a landmark deal BBCWW signed with the company in December last year – its first with a peer-to-peer download service, through which it now offers other series including Coupling, Little Britain, Fawlty Towers and Doctor Who.
