Viacom claims Japanese mobile first Viacom International Japan has launched the country's first mobile entertainment social networking service, myMTV, which it says is the first in the world to offer simultaneous video and page-browsing on mobile. MyMTV members can create their own profile pages with exclusive artwork provided by Japanese graphic designers, as well as upload and share video taken on their mobile phones. They will also be able to link to pages created by their friends or content providers, including professional recording artists. MyMTV will also feature programming from MTV's library, such as Pimp My Ride, and Japanese productions such as Usavich. The service is ad-supported and free to consumers, and is available on all three of Japan's mobile operators, NTT DoCoMo, KDDI and Softbank Mobile. "MyMTV is the most sophisticated mobile service we've launched to date and shows the strength of our global digital network," said Gideon Bierer, senior VP of digital media at MTV Networks International. "Japan is at the forefront of the mobile entertainment market and is playing a key part in the global development of MTV Networks' digital products." 1 Aug 2007 © C21 Media 2007 C21 Home | FutureMedia Home | Printer Friendly | Email a Friend |
