RDF sets up digital division The UK's RDF Media Group has firmed up its long-planned move into the digital space with a new division, RDF Digital, which will focus on the creation of video content for distribution over the internet. The new division will work closely with members of RDF’s existing development and production teams to service the demand for video content from a number of new clients. Zad Rogers, one of the founders of RDF-owned IWC Media and creator of Channel 4's Location, Location, Location format, will take up the role of creative director of RDF Digital. Jonny Slow, RDF’s corporate development director, will work alongside Rogers to identify opportunities where traditional TV production skills and broadcasting over the internet can be brought together. One of the first projects is expected to be Shipwrecked website islandoo.co.uk, which will be developed into a social networking site. At C21's FutureMedia conference in December, RDF chief exec David Frank revealed plans to turn the reality show's recruitment website into a portal dedicated to fame generally, using it as a mechanism for casting for other series and other activities. "The internet has already become an exciting place for audiences to watch video. We believe that, although in its infancy, this will create exciting opportunities for TV broadcasters and producers to develop entertaining content designed specifically for this purpose, as well as opening new avenues to generate secondary income from existing content, " he said today. In separate news, RDF said today it has renewed its exclusive first-look deals with UK indie ZKK and Australia's Essential Viewing Group for one and two years, respectively. It has also acquired IT services company Aqua Resources Group for £200,000 (US$385,000). Jules Grant 1 Feb 2007 © C21 Media 2007 C21 Home | FutureMedia Home | Printer Friendly | Email a Friend |
