TOEI to be recognised at MipTV Japanese production company TOEI is to be honoured at this year's MipTV with a Lifetime Achievement Award for its contribution to the international television industry. TOEI Company, whose properties include the 1983 Cannes Film Festival’s award-winning The Ballad of Narayama, Junya Sato’s 2005 Second World War feature Yamato, and the Power Rangers series, celebrates its 55th anniversary this year, while TOEI Animation, known for such toon hits as Dragonball Z, Goldrak and Sailor Moon, is 50 years old. “Traditionally, we have presented our Lifetime Achievement Award to industry professionals. Great names such as Peter Orton or Robert Halmi Sr… TOEI executives were very insistent that their success has been a collective effort and that the award should go to the whole TOEI team, rather than any one individual,” said Paul Johnson, director of the television division of Mip organiser Reed MIDEM.2 Mar 2006 © C21 Media 2006 C21 Home | C21 Kids Home | Printer Friendly | Email a Friend |
