Postman Pat goes Stateside via HBO deal Postman Pat is set for the US following a major deal between the pre-school character's UK IP owner Entertainment Rights and Time Warner's HBO. ![]() The US move is the latest in Postman Pat's global roll-out. Last week, C21 reported that Pat had rolled out further in Italy via pubcaster Rai 3. The pre-school toon also has a broadcast presence in several other territories including Australia, Scandinavia and Benelux. Earlier this year, group commercial director Jane Smith outlined ER's strategy of pushing further into the US market. Mike Heap, ceo Entertainment Rights, expanded further today: "This is a landmark deal for ER and opens up considerable opportunities for the company in the significant US market. Along with Fat Albert, He-man and She-Ra, Postman Pat is set to join our cast of iconic US characters," he said. ER is currently developing a consumer products programme for the pre-school favourite which will roll out in the US in 2006.Other initiatives include a spin-off cgi project, Guess With Jess, an educational toon based on Pat's cute feline sidekick.
