Gervais lined up for Banff masterclass Ricky Gervais, creator and star of BBC comedies The Office and Extras, will join an elite group of showrunners giving talks at the Banff World Television Festival in June. The annual event, held in conjunction with NextMedia, runs from June 13 to 16 and will see Gervais presenting a masterclass in which he gives his insights into the television production business. Others notable giving presentations are David W Zucker (The Good Wife, N3mbers), James Manos Jnr (Dexter, The Sopranos), Bill Prady (Big Bang Theory), Bryan Elsley (Skins), Peter Murrieta (Wizards of Waverly Place, Hope and Faith) and Vince Gilligan (Breaking Bad, The X-Files).Banff estimates that 1,500 delegates will attend the event, to be held at the Banff Springs Hotel in Alberta, Canada. Last week, C21 reported HBO had given the go-ahead for a second season of The Ricky Gervais Show, the animated series based on the popular podcasts Gervais produced with writing partner Stephen Merchant.
