Globo IPTV roll-out reaches Portugal Brazil's TV Globo has extended its Portuguese presence onto an IPTV platform through an alliance with Clix SmarTV, the IPTV arm of telco Sonaecom's triple-play service, Clix. The launch follows the same model as Globo's French IPTV launch two weeks ago, so that TV Globo Portugal will be free to all Clix SmarTV subscribers through the month of April. From April, it will assume premium positioning on the platform, at channel 11. As in France, Globo is already available to Portuguese viewers via cable and satellite. Its content comprises a range of programming sourced from both TV Globo and its subscription service, Globosat. Marcelo Spinola, director of Globo's international distribution, said: "Our partnership with Clix SmarTV is very important to us, opening more distribution platforms in Portugal, where there is a huge subscribers' potential, as they also speak Portuguese. This, undoubtedly, will be an excellent alternative for our potential subscribers." Emily Brookes 18 Apr 2008 © C21 Media 2008
