Two days left to register for FutureMedia 2007 There are just two days remaining before leading players from the digital frontier come together at C21's annual FutureMedia conference. With Joost, BBC Future Media, MySpace, Bebo, Sky, Tiscali, Virgin Media and many more set to define new models for business, this is a must-attend event. C21's FutureMedia 2007 brings together the traditional television business and emerging digital media sector to examine how they work together to develop the next generation of media and entertainment. The one-day event at BAFTA in London on December 13 gets up close and personal with the players at the cutting edge of digital media content creation and distribution, from decisive keynotes, to content case studies and a complimentary networking lunch. The speaker line-up includes a raft of key players set to make this an unmissable day for anyone looking to adapt their business to prosper in the digital entertainment future. C21's FutureMedia 2007 is proud to present the following keynotes and conference sessions: Strategies for the digital future Erik Huggers Group controller BBC Future Media and Technology group As the BBC rolls out iPlayer and extends its digital production and channels business, how will it reshape the entertainment landscape. Erik Huggers delivers a decisive keynote on how new content strategies will change the entertainment paradigm. TV on the net – models for creative and commercial success Travis Katz Managing director, international MySpace/Fox Interactive Media With MySpace's Quarterlife drama landing a US network deal with NBC, the company's user-generated feature film Faintheart set to wrap in December and the imminent announcement of its first UK commission, Travis will explore how traditional content producers and broadcasters can harness the power of social networks to develop new entertainment franchises and find new audiences on the web. Commissioning original content for the internet Joanna Shields President Bebo Bebo's online drama KateModern has astonished Britain's creative community. It attracted more than 20 million views in its first three months and is hard evidence that younger audiences are demanding new ways to consume entertainment content. With social networking users now living out their lives online and Bebo's distinctive engagement levels uniquely strong across its six core English-speaking markets, the formidable bond of social networking and online media consumption is the future of media. Joanna's keynote speech examines the shape of new forms of content that immerse the audience and wrap internet functionality into the mix. It outlines Bebo's success with original participatory content online to date and looks towards exciting new developments on the horizon. Who knows – will social networks become the new commissioners? Next-generation digital entertainment Mike Volpi CEO Joost The chief executive of internet TV company Joost will provide an update on developments since the service was made publicly available at the beginning of October. Invented by the creators of Skype, Joost started out aiming to combine the best of TV with the best of the web but over the past 12 months of testing it has evolved in response to its two million users' behaviour. It is now clear that Joost is an entirely new entertainment platform. Volpi's keynote will explore the changing nature of media consumption, examining trends such as personalisation, social networking and the impact these dynamics will have on the future of the content industry. He will also offer his view on Kangaroo, the recently announced online video joint venture from BBC Worldwide, ITV and Channel 4. In a series of further case studies and keynote interviews, leading executives from the front line of digital media will explain the content and distribution strategies that are changing the entertainment business – from IPTV to UGC and everything in between. Sessions will be chaired by experts from each sector in a format designed to be as interactive as possible.
