ABC names drama pilot talent
US network ABC's pilot drive is continuing with a number of key casting announcements for drama projects.
Michael Vartan, agent Michael Vaughn in Alias, is signed up to headline ABC's untitled drama pilot about four high-powered friends, each one a CEO of their own company. Vartan has been cast to provide the moral centre of the new show, according to US reports.
ABC's other drama pilot, Football Wives, a US version of UK soap Footballers' Wives, will star Running With Scissors actress Gabrielle Union as a model-turned-recording artist engaged to a star player.
Over at NBC, Sleeper Cell star Melissa Sagemiller has joined the cast of drama pilot Life, which follows a falsely imprisoned cop who rejoins the force.
Fox's drama New Amsterdam, about an immortal New York homicide detective, will star Danish actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Kingdom of Heaven), and FX's untitled drama starring Glenn Close as a high-stakes litigator will star Troy actress Rose Byrne and Crumbs' actor Noah Bean.
