Cast named for monstrous ITV series
UK terrestrial ITV1 has announced the casting for its forthcoming prehistoric drama Primeval including Douglas Henshall, Lucy Brown, Hannah Spearritt and James Murray.
The drama, from Walking With Dinosaurs creator Impossible Pictures, begins in February 2007 and sees a crack team of scientists headed by renowned evolutionary scientist Professor Nick Cutter, played by Henshall (The Strange Case of Sherlock Holmes, Anna Karenina), recruited by the government to investigate a series of dinosaur sightings.
 From a gorgonopsid rampaging through the woods to a swarm of megarachne in the tunnels of the London Underground, they find themselves doing the monster mash with some seriously beastly opponents.
As well as Murray (Marple, Cutting It) as Cutter's research assistant; Spearritt (Agent Cody Banks II) as a zoologist; and Brown (Whatever Love Means); other cast members include Andrew Lee Potts (Trial and Retribution, Boudica) as a student palaeontologist; Ben Miller (The Worst Week of my Life); and Juliet Aubrey (A Good Murder).
Primeval has been commissioned by ITV controller of network drama Nick Elliot, produced by Cameron McAllister (Jericho, Forgotten, Lie With Me), is exec-produced by Impossible's Tim Haines and directed by Cilla Wear (Wild at Heart, Spooks)
