Five commemorates 9/11 with poetry

British actor Rufus Sewell will read a specially commissioned poem from poet and novelist Simon Armitage in UK terrestrial Five's upcoming commemoration of the fifth anniversary of 9/11.

The centrepiece of a documentary being made by indie Silver River Productions, set up by former Talkback Thames chief and poetry fan Daisy Goodwin, Armitage's poem "will lend a unique voice to the catastrophic events of that day," said Five.

Filmed in the UK and New York, 9/11: Out of the Blue will air on Five on September 11, featuring interviews with survivors as well as friends and families who had relatives in the Twin Towers.

Armitage was previously commissioned to write a poem to commemorate the 60th anniversary of VE Day. Both shows were commissioned by controller of history for Five Alex Sutherland and were executive produced by Goodwin.
