Minotaur picks up new Osbourne adventure UK distributor Minotaur has picked up a second extreme-adventure factual entertainment series featuring Ozzy Osbourne's offspring Jack, produced once again by UK indie Ginger Productions. Jack Osbourne's Hard Way Round (working title), which will officially launch at MipTV, has already been pre-sold into six territories and is currently in production for the UK's ITV1 and ITV2. Others on board the four-part series include TV2 (Denmark), Annaney (Israel), MNET/GO (South Africa), Joongang Broadcasting Corp/Q-Channel (Korea), and Chum Television's Razor (Canada). The second series follows the newly slimmed down and toned up Osbourne as he aims to circumnavigate the world in four months by taking part in a variety of extreme adventure challenges. Among the trials is a 140-mile race on foot across the Sahara Desert in sweltering temperatures; kayaking the English Channel; and attempting the world's tallest bungy jump, at Bloukrans Bridge in South Africa. Ginger Productions' first Osbourne-fronted series was last year's Adrenaline Rush, which has now been sold to 17 territories. Minotaur VP Sarah Tong put part of the attraction of the first series down to Osbourne's 'flabby boy to toned man' transformation. "It was compelling viewing and I'm confident that broadcasters will be just as attracted to the new series, which promises even more high drama, breathtaking global scenery and nerve-jangling extreme sports," said Tong. In other Minotaur news, the distributor has secured a number of deals for SMG TV Productions' detective drama franchise Rebus. Two new 90-minute films, The Falls and Fleshmarket Close, have been licensed to seven countries including BBC America, TVO (Canada), ABC (Australia), HRT (Croatia) and the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service. John Williams has also picked up DVD/video rights for the UK and Ireland. Minotaur is launching a further four Rebus movies for presale at MipTV. Jo Anne Kenny 15 Feb 2006 © C21 Media 2006 |
