Shoebox Zoo enchants international nets Still high from its 50% profits hike, BBC Worldwide has unveiled a raft of deals with international broadcasters for the Alan Cumming/Rik Mayall-narrated CBBC drama series, Shoebox Zoo. The children's and family series, a coproduction between CBBC Scotland, Blueprint Entertainment and Alberta Filmworks, has now been sold to over 20 territories including Australia, Canada, Bosnia, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Dubai, Estonia, Hong Kong, Iceland, India, Italy, Malaysia, Malta, New Zealand, Norway, Romania, Russia, Serbia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Vietnam and the US. A DVD of series two and a DVD box set, containing series one and two, is also set to retail in the UK this Autumn as well as a novelisation and official guidebook to Shoebox Zoo, which will also be released later this year. Further books are planned for 2006. Shoebox Zoo follows the story of an American girl (played by Bafta-nominated Vivien Endicott-Douglas), who is given a mysterious shoebox containing four animal figures which she can bring to life. With the help of her animated companions, Marnie embarks on an epic quest to find the mythical Lost Book of Forbidden Knowledge. A star-studded cast voices the animated characters including Siobhan Redmond (Ailsa the adder), Simon Callow (Wolfgang the Wolf), Alan Cumming (Bruno the Bear) and Rik Mayall (Edwin the Eagle) Jason Connery stars as Marnie's Dad and Peter Mullan is Michael Scot.
