MediaXchange, Resonant provide Insight Resonant TV and media specialists MediaXchange are partnering on a joint-venture called Insight, designed to give international TV channels and producers access to US writers and showrunners, with credits including Will & Grace, 24 and CSI, to explore the US creative process. Insight’s aim is to “help apply the best development and writing practices to the creation of fiction programmes generated locally in different territories. Shows will be developed domestically and with a view to the international market," according to the organisers. Resonant TV’s CEO Gonzalo Cilley and the international media consultancy MediaXchange, headed by CEO and 20-year industry veteran Katrina Wood, aim to provide TV clients with a route to gaining expert experience in how US series are developed and written. “The US has most successfully industrialised the creative process so, with years of experience perfecting their trade, creatives have acquired a writing expertise that their fellow writers in other countries have often envied,” said Wood. “We aim to provide access for companies to an advisory board of their US industry counterparts with an unparalleled level of skills.” The advisory board is made up of television creatives, showrunners, writer/producers and development executives, who can help provide structure and process to local development as well as a knowledge-base that will supply the foundation for a sustainable and repeatable format to thrive in other markets. The advisory board members have a wide range of experience with their combination of show credits, pilot and show development at TV channels, and collaboration on international coproduction and adaptations. Board members include: Jeff Greenstein (Will & Grace, Desperate Housewives), James Duff (The Closer), Jeff Melvoin (Alias, Army Wives), Naren Shankar (CSI), Bob Cochran (24, La Femme Nikita), David Zucker (The Pillars of the Earth, The Good Wife), Carol Flint (ER, West Wing), Steve Stark (Medium, The Game), Javier Grillo (Lost, The Middleman). “It is no secret that US series are the most-watched television shows in the world, and American writers are probably the most experienced in their trade. This is a unique opportunity to enhance the creative process and most importantly the results,” said Cilley, who previously ran Argentine broadcaster Telefe's international format department. Several projects under the Insight initiative are in the works and will be announced over the next few months. Jenny Davidson 24 Mar 2010 © C21 Media 2010 |
