MTV exec takes up Chello

International channel operator Chellomedia has appointed a new MD of its channels in Central Europe, luring over an MTV Networks Emerging Markets exec to fill the post.

Levente Malnay will be responsible for the management and development of the Chello Central Europe channel portfolio, which now comprises 11 channels and has a combined distribution footprint of 46 million homes across the region.

"The portfolio, which includes international brands as well as channels that have grown organically and are programmed here in Central Europe, is a great combination," Malnay said. He takes up his new role on December 1, reporting to Mike Moriarty, MD of Chellomedia, Central Europe.

Malnay was previously VP at MTV Networks Emerging Markets, where he was responsible for the launch of the Comedy Channel in Hungary as well as MTV.

Chello's Central European channel portfolio includes the MGM channel, Minimax, Spektrum, Sport1, Zone Romantica, Zone Europa, Zone Club, Filmmuzeum, TV Paprika and TV Deko. Chello Central Europe also has its own production entity, Mojo Productions.
