NBC's Southland 'heading to TNT' US cop drama Southland, cancelled by NBC earlier this month, now looks likely to transfer to cable network TNT, according to US reports. NBC told production studio Warner Bros Television it was cancelling the show, starring Ben McKenzie and Michael Cudlitz as LA cops, a fortnight ago, replacing it with Dateline. Since then the two parties have been in talks about releasing 13 finished episodes (seven from last season plus six that NBC ordered this season) and, according to multiple US reports, a deal is close to being finalised, with TNT expected to pick up the John Wells-produced show. The series would complement TNT's other cop dramas The Closer and Dark Blue, both of which come from Warner Bros TV's sister company, Warner Horizon. In related news, actor Angie Harmon (Law & Order, Women's Murder Club) has signed up for the title role in Rizzoli, a TNT pilot based on Tess Gerritson's mystery novels. The pilot is being made by Warner Horizon, written by Janet Tamaro (Bones) and exec produced by Tamaro and Bill Haber. Adam Benzine 26 Oct 2009 © C21 Media 2009 |
