UKTV orders Brit docs for Blighty launch UKTV-owned factual cabsat network Blighty has commissioned prodcos including ITV Studios and Prospect Pictures to deliver a trio of series that aim to "capture the spirit of contemporary Britain." The series have been commissioned to mark the relaunch of UKTV People as Blighty on February 17. The revamped multi-platform brand will primarily target couples in their 30s and 40s who are interested in reconnecting with the country they live in. Premiering on relaunch night at 21.00, Prospect Pictures' factual-entertainment series My Brilliant Britain (10x30’) follows a host of unconventional British celebrities as they reveal what they think makes Britain unique. The ITV Studios-produced http://cms.c21media.net/c21/articles/edit_main.asp?id=47595 (5x30’), meanwhile, is billed as an irreverent ob-doc series that sees former Trigger Happy TV star Dom Joly travelling the British Isles in an effort to restock his home and to re-clothe himself in items that have been made in Britain. The series will air on June 15 at 21.00. Finally, Save Our Boozer (working title, 5x60'), a coproduction between Twofour and Eye Film & TV, will be a formatted ob-doc series that sees millionaire landlord Jay Smith leading five communities to revamp underperforming pubs. The series was commissioned by UKTV director of entertainment Lisa Perrin, and will air at 21.00 on April 23. The shows were all greenlit by UKTV's director of factual and factual-entertainment commissioning Jane Rogerson, and ordered by director of factual, lifestyle and new media Jane Mote and Blighty and Eden channel head Adrian Wills. Wills said: "These three commissions will complement Blighty's schedule perfectly, sitting alongside quirky ob-docs, factual entertainment, wildlife and programmes that celebrate the British outdoors to capture the spirit of contemporary Britain."
