BBC dramas, docs go down under BBC Worldwide has signed a deal down under for a package of titles including Hartswood Films' drama Jekyll, spy drama The State Within and a brace of Billie Piper period dramas. ABC TV has taken a package of BBC programming, including the two Piper vehicles The Ruby in the Smoke and The Shadow in the North, both BBC/WGBH Boston coproductions, in a deal with BBC Worldwide Australasia. Jekyll (6x50') stars James Nesbitt (Cold Feet) in a contemporary take on Robert Louis Stevenson's classic chiller, while The State Within (6x60') stars Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter, Black Hawk Down) in a political drama.The Aussie pubcaster also acquired two major new natural history titles from the BBC's Sydney outpost. Galapagos is a 3x50' series from the BBC's Natural History Unit and National Geographic, while Wild Caribbean is a 4x50' BBC/Travel Channel coproduction. Also in the mix is Fear, Stress & Anger (6x30'), starring Peter Davison (The Last Detective, Doctor Who) and Pippa Haywood (Green Wing) in a Hartswood Films comedy about the decline of the baby boomer. 4 Sep 2007 © C21 Media 2007 |
