Viasat bags Beckham in MLS deal Scandinavian pay-TV firm Viasat Broadcasting has secured exclusive broadcasting rights to US Major League Soccer (MLS) fixtures for the rest of the season. Under the deal Viasat Sport viewers in Scandinavia, the Baltic states and the CIS markets will be able to watch Major League matches, including British footballer David Beckham's career at LA Galaxy. Viasat said interest in MLS "has increased enormously" since the ex-Real Madrid mid-fielder was lured to the LA squad. His presumed debut for LA Galaxy against Toronto takes place on Sunday. Viasat Sport 2 and Viasat East will broadcast up to two MLS matches every week, starting this week. These will add to the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup, English FA Cup, Danish Premier League, French Premier League and Dutch League. 3 Aug 2007 © C21 Media 2007 |
