ITV's Wire in the Blood flows again

UK crime franchise Wire in the Blood has been commissioned for a fifth series of four telemovies by ITV, taking the drama franchise up to 19.

Produced by Coastal Productions and starring Robson Green (Rocket Man, Christmas Lights), the telemovies are self-contained stories based on characters created by author Val McDermid.

Green plays clinical psychologist Dr Tony Hill, who usually researches convicted killers but has become involved in trying to help the police solve some of their worst murder cases. Robson was joined in the fourth series by Simone Lahbib (Monarch of the Glen, Bad Girls) as DI Alex Fielding.

Distributor Southern Star has sold Wire in the Blood to a number of territories including the US (BBC Americas), Canada (Showcase), Germany (ZDF), France (AB Sat), the Netherlands (SBS), Latin America (HBO and Multi Premiere), Denmark (DRTV), Australia (ABC TV and UKTV) and New Zealand (TVNZ and UKTV).
