Newen, Keshet seek drama talent

French production group Newen has partnered with the international arm of Keshet Media Group in Israel to source local writers of high-end drama series.

The dual-territory drama development initiative will seek out proposals for 60- or 30-minute projects in either English or Hebrew that will appeal to European audiences.

The companies have committed to selecting at least one project and a maximum of three for co-development and coproduction, where appropriate.

The submission period began yesterday and will remain open until October 31. Full terms and conditions are available here. The finalists will be announced next January.

The move comes as Keshet Media’s sales arm Keshet International (KI) looks to grow its drama coproduction slate following its work on series such as The A Word with the BBC in the UK.

“This is a unique opportunity for the creative communities in both France and Israel to take their local stories to the international stage,” said Atar Dekel, head of global scripted coproductions at KI.

“There is a keen appetite in the global market for Israeli and French scripted content and we hope this collaboration will instigate several high-end international coproductions.”
