New York Times eyes TV

US newspaper The New York Times is shifting into TV show production and has a series in the works.

Details of the weekly news show were revealed in an advertisement looking for an exec producer for the programme, according to CNN.

The publication is in talks with streamers and cablenets about airing the show, which could become “a showcase for the most ambitious visual journalism of the Times,” according to Sam Dolnick, who is overseeing the initiative.

US producer Left/Right, which previously worked on This American Life for Showtime, is on board to develop the series, which will focus on the newspaper’s key stories of the week.

The advertisement adds that the series will “include groundbreaking investigations, on-the-ground reporting, agenda-setting interviews and new formats yet to be invented.”
