Netflix takes 3D printing doc

US streaming giant Netflix has acquired exclusive rights to an award-winning documentary about the country’s leading 3D printing firms.

Print the Legend chronicles some of the top US 3D printing brands as they fight for dominance in this rapidly developing field.

The film, which examines the controversial elements of the technology, such as the production of firearms, will premiere exclusively on Netflix this year and will be available to stream in all territories where the subscription VoD service is available.

Print the Legend was directed, shot and edited by Luis Lopez and Clay Tweel (Make Believe, The King of Kong) and produced by Steven Klein (Make Believe).

The film recently won the 2014 SXSW Film Festival Special Jury Recognition Award for editing and storytelling in the documentary feature competition.
