Netflix reveals Turkish revamp

Netflix has launched a localised service in Turkey just days after rolling out a similar service in Poland.

The SVoD service is now available in Turkey with a fully localised user interface, local programming and in the local currency.

Netflix has also signed a deal with its first local telecom partner, mobile provider Vodafone, and is already working with the Turkish TV manufacturer Vestel. Its partnership with Vodafone will come into effect in October.

“Turkish people are great storytellers with their hugely popular and internationally recognised Turkish dramas and Netflix aims to become one of its most vocal ambassadors” said Reed Hastings, co-founder and chief executive officer of Netflix.

“We’re delighted to offer a more localised Netflix in Turkey that will continue to grow with both our Netflix Original titles and licensed content from here and elsewhere.”

Local titles streaming on Netflix Turkey include movies Güneşi Gördüm, Kelebeğin Rüyası, Recep Ivedik 4 and Düğün Dernek 1 & 2, as well as TV series Leyla ile Mecnun, Suskunlar, Karadayı, Ezel, Kurt Seyit ve Şura, Diriliş Ertuğrul, and Filinta.

It follows a similar announcement in Poland earlier this week.
