Netflix preys on TF1’s Mantis

MIPCOM: Streaming giant Netflix has picked up global rights to a six-part thriller originally produced for French commercial broadcaster TF1.

The Mantis (6×52’), from Septembre Productions, has been acquired from distributor AB Groupe.

The series centres on an infamous serial killer forced to work with police to hunt down a copycat murderer.

Directed by Alexandre Laurent, The Mantis was created by Alice Chegaray-Breugnot, Grégoire Demaison, Nicolas Jean and Laurent Vivier.

Valerie Vleeschhouwer, VP of distribution and coproductions of AB Groupe, said she was proud of the agreement, saying it “once again confirms the demand for high-quality French productions.”
