Netflix originals director exits

Netflix’s director of original programming Tara Duncan has left the US-based streamer after four years.

Duncan’s credits include comedy-drama Orange is the New Black and drug drama Narcos, while she also worked on ill-fated big-budget hip-hop series The Get Down, which was axed after one season.

Before joining Netflix, Duncan worked at US cablenets including HBO and AMC.

Her departure, first reported by US trade Deadline, follows the exit of fellow Netflix exec Layne Eskridge, who left earlier this week to join Apple as a creative exec, reporting to worldwide development chief Matt Chernis.

Earlier this month Netflix ordered its first series from Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes since she struck a multimillion-deal to join the streamer last year.

Netflix and Rhimes, through her prodco Shondaland, have picked up the rights to New York Magazine article How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People, written by Jessica Pressler.

The article, which went viral after its release at the end of May, tells of the infamous rise and fall of Anna Delvey (real name Anna Sorokin) who hoodwinked the New York social scene to become an ‘It girl’ and scammed hundreds of thousands of dollars from banks, business and friends.
