Netflix gets Expelled

Subscription VoD giant Netflix has picked up a feature-length film produced by DreamWorks Animation-owned YouTube network AwesomenessTV.

Expelled stars a cast of social media personalities, including Vine phenomenon Cameron Dallas and popular vlogger Andrea Russett, and was written by 26-year-old Alex Goyette, who has a large following on YouTube.

The film, which follows a notorious prankster who gets expelled from school, having previously always been able to charm his way out of trouble, will be available to Netflix subscribers worldwide from February 1.

Netflix and AwesomenessTV are in the process of rebooting the classic cartoon character Richie Rich for a live-action half-hour comedy series, set to arrive on the SVoD platform in the US, Canada and Latin America later this year.
