Netflix fond of Fonda comedy

Netflix has renewed its single-camera comedy Grace & Frankie for a second season, less than a month after the series’ debut.

Grace & Frankie stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin as two long-time rivals who are brought together when their husbands decide to run off together and get married.

The US streamer ordered a 13-episode first run last March, bolstering its original comedy offering along with BoJack Horseman and Arrested Development. The first season of Grace & Frankie premiered on May 8, while the second will become available in 2016.

Friends creator Marta Kauffman co-created the series with Howard J Morris, who both exec produce with Fonda, Tomlin, Paula Weinstein, Dana Goldberg, David Ellison and Marcy Ross.

The comedy hails from Skydance Productions and Okay Goodnight.

Oscar-winner Fonda (Coming Home, Klute) and Tomlin last teamed up on 1980s workplace comedy 9 to 5.
