Netflix dominates Golden Globe field

US subscription VoD service Netflix is leading the field with eight nominations for next year’s Golden Globe Awards – more than any traditional TV network.

Fellow US video streamers Amazon and Hulu also bagged nominations, following Amazon’s triumph earlier this year with transgender series Transparent.

The three services drew 14 nominations in total, five more than the commercial broadcast networks combined.

Among the streaming shows nominated were Amazon’s Transparent (three nominations); Netflix’s Orange is the New Black (two), Narcos (two) and House of Cards (one); and Hulu’s Casual (one).

Netflix dominated the TV category with a total of eight nominations, closely followed by HBO and Starz with seven, while Amazon and FX received five each.

US networks will be keeping an eye on this trend, as next year CBS All Access shows could feature following the service’s launch last year.

The eventual winners are decided by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and announced in a ceremony on January 10.
