Netflix discovers Life in South Korea

Global SVoD firm Netflix has acquired international streaming rights to a South Korean medical drama.

Life, which stars Lee Dong-wook (Goblin), focuses on a power struggle between doctors and administrators at a hospital.

Airing on South Korean network JTBC, the show is produced by Signal Entertainment Group and AM Studio, written by Lee Su-yeon and directed by Hong Jong-chan and Lim Hyun-ook. Netflix will premiere the first four episodes in Asia-Pacific markets (excluding Japan) and English-speaking regions (excluding the US) tomorrow.

Episodes five and six will stream on the same day as their Korean broadcast on August 6 and 7, followed by a regular weekly schedule.

All other Netflix territories, excluding the US and Japan, will premiere two episodes every Monday, while all episodes will be available in the US in September.

Netflix picked up Korean historical drama Mr Sunshine in June.
