Netflix has acquired a host of teen-skewing properties from US distributor MarVista Entertainment for its subscription VoD service in territories including Australia, where it launched last week.

Dance-Off is among seven new shows for Netflix

The US streaming service has acquired seven titles, including Dance-Off ^[1], starring So You Think You Can Dance finalist and Step-Up star Cathryn McCormick, for Latin America, Australia and New Zealand.

Netflix has also picked up A Second Chance ^[2], about a teen gymnast, in the latter two countries, where it was made available ^[3] last week. It will also have rights in the US, Canada and Latin America.

US Spanish-language network MundoFox, meanwhile, has also picked up movies from MarVista, including the soccer-themed Monkey in the Middle ^[4] and 1 Chance 2 Dance, which has also been acquired by Club RTL in Europe.

In Latin America, Peru’s America Television has taken the romantic comedy All She Wishes, featuring Disney star Calum Worthy, and the comedy Zapped, starring Zendaya.

“Movies that appeal to families for co-viewing and those targeted at kids and teens continue to resonate with global buyers across all platforms,” said MarVista Entertainment’s executive VP of distribution, Vanessa Shapiro.

MarVista has recently acquired new family-friendly titles, all of which it will be shopping at MipTV, alongside the Disney Channel movie Pants on Fire.

These include My New Best Friend, a Foxfield Entertainment and Mystique Films Production, and Kids vs Monsters, which follows six teenagers tricked by their parents into going to a school run by monsters.
